It depends on the conditions in the atmosphere, not the plane. Vapor Trails same plane to leave on a flight, but not on another, as the atmospheric conditions are different.
The trails consist of water vapor that is summarized in liquid or ice. The engines of an airplane always produce water vapor, but unless it condenses, it remains invisible. So the water vapor is always there, but the atmospheric conditions determine whether it condenses into a visible cloud.
