Question - What does foobar mean
"Foobar" is generally believed to be a corruption of the acronym "fubar"; "foobar" is often seen either as is or in its constituent syllables "foo" and "bar" as a generalisation within computer-related constructs and documentation where there is no other obvious, or more suitable, term.
The acronym "fubar" is believed to have been invented by the Americans [who else?! :-)] during World War II to describe something that is damaged beyond repair, or more specifically Fouled Up Beyond All Recognition. Naturally, given that the phrase was coined during a time of great stress, the first word is open to a fair degree of interpretation!
